Toshiba announces new Satellite Click 2 detachables – hybrid Windows laptop tablets

Today Toshiba UK has announced the arrival of two new members to its detachable laptop range – the Satellite Click 2 L30W and the Satellite Click 2 Pro P30W.

Toshiba’s new hybrid laptop/tablets, or detachables as Tosh likes to call them, offers the flexibility of a laptop when you need it and a tablet when you want it.

The Satellite Click 2 delivers the same great performance and feature set of an everyday laptop including the option of the 4th generation Intel Core i3 processors combined with Intel HD 4200 Graphics.

The Click 2 is equipped with a removable 33.8 cm (13.3-inch) HD IPS touchscreen display with a resolution of 1366×768 which utilises a durable hinge with a ‘quick-release’ latching mechanism for attaching and detaching the screen to the keyboard base.

Great for entertainment, the Satellite Click 2 is also one of Toshiba’s first devices to feature a sound system tuned by Skullcandy and DTS.

Within the satin gold fanless chassis you’ll also find a 500GB HDD. The Satellite Click 2 runs quietly and its 0.9-inch profile as a laptop ensures easy portability and a stated battery life of around 8 hours.

As well as its internal power, the Satellite Click 2 L30W also features a range of connectivity options for increased flexibility even when in tablet mode.

With a full-size USB 2.0 port, SD card slot and micro-HDMI-out on the tablet, users can connect to a printer or transfer photos from their digital camera without the need to attach the keyboard.

Additionally a full-size USB 3.0 port on the keyboard, supporting Sleep-and-Charge, also allows for faster transfers of large files. In addition to latest Wi-Fi 802.11ac standard and Bluetooth 4.0, Intel WiDi connectivity plus wireless display technology means users can stream content to their compatible TV for big screen entertainment or for sharing presentations.

The integrated HD webcam with noise-cancelling stereo microphone is ideal for video conference calls either with colleagues or friends.

The Satellite Click 2 L30W detachable laptop will be available in Europe during the third quarter of 2014 and cost around £449.

Satellite Click 2 Pro P30W – the premium Ultrabook that’s bursting with features

For power users who demand more from their devices, the Satellite Click 2 Pro features a ‘no-compromises’ slim design with a Full HD display, powerful performance, dual cameras, and a premium sound system with an innovative ‘push-pull’ hinge mechanism that makes it easy to attach and detach the screen with a single hand.

Dressed in an elegant enclosure that measures a skinny 0.78-inches thin as a laptop, the Satellite Click 2 Pro is powered by a 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor, and is tooled up with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a Full HD 13.3-inch removable IPS display which packs a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

In the tablet section your ears will be pleased to know that there’s DTS Sound audio enhancement tuned by Harman/Kardon which promises to deliver rich audio to complement the visuals.

The Click 2 Pro is also well equipped with all the essential ports – the tablet includes a built-in microSD card slot, Micro HDMI which supports Ultra HD (UHD) and Micro USB 2.0 ports, as well as wireless display support and Intel WiDi6 for screen sharing to big screen TVs.

There’s a front HD webcam with dual array microphones for video chat which is buddied with a rear 5MP camera for quality high-resolution photos and videos.

The LED backlit full-sized keyboard base features a further two USB 3.0 ports, one with USB Sleep & Charge and an HDMI port. The keyboard base also packs a secondary battery that extends the life of the device and an additional 500GB hard drive that complements the 128GB Solid State Drive built-in to the tablet.

Battery-life suffers a little due to the extra power but Toshiba says that you should still expect around 6 hours before you’re running for the plug.
