Apple iPad Air 3 packing camera flash and quad speakers
The Apple iPad Air 3 is expected to appear at Apple’s press event in March along with a new smaller 4-inch iPhone.
The annual refresh cycle seems to be all well and good at Apple and, according to a recent report, the iPad Air 3 will come with a number of upgrades over the current model.
The list of additions apparently includes 4 speakers, just like the iPad Pro, as well as a flash for the rear camera.
The new iPad Pro comes with the new Apple A9X processor, Apple are also expected to use this processor in the next generation iPad Air.
The iPad Air 2 has 2GB of RAM and the iPad Pro has 4GB of RAM so it stands to reason that the new iPad Air will probably come with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM.
While we are on the subject of the usual upgrades, the iPad Air 3 will most likely get some upgraded cameras. Don’t be expecting a radical change in design though, save a few extra slots for those extra speakers.
There will likely be a 9.7-inch display and, MyDrivers suggests a 4K screen (resolution of 2334×3112) seeing as the iPad Air 2 has a 1536×2048 screen resolution.
Apple is also working on next-gen pressure-sensing display technology that will work on screen sizes as large as the iPadPro, according to AppleInsider, but it might not be ready for the iPad Air 3.
One thing that is almost nailed on though is that the new iPad will likely arrive running on iOS 9. But, should there be delays in its release, planned or otherwise, then iOS 10 could be on the cards.
iOS 9 introduced improvements to Siri and Apple Maps, a new keyboard and a bit more.
There will no doubt be more ‘leaks’ in the run up to the Apple event in March. When I hear something, I’ll let you know.
