Acer unwraps new Nitro 5 gaming laptop – CES 2018
Acer has unveiled its new Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop. This is targetted on casual gamers seeking great performance in an attractive laser-textured design.
We liked last year’s version, so the new one is certainly going to be worth checking out.
Acer Nitro 5 2018
The new 15-inch laptop is packing the latest-generation AMD Radeon RX560 graphics. So, expect speedy rendering, improved lighting and texture details.
Gamers will also benefit from the latest AMD Ryzen mobile processors for amazing performance.
The Nitro 5’s internal solid-state drive is available up to 512 GB. That means plenty of storage for carrying the latest gaming titles, music and movies around with you.
Also under the hood is DDR4 RAM of up to 32 GB. That, combined with the SSD, equated to booting, loading and restarting in mere seconds.
Once in the throes of battle, Acer’s NitroSense utility allows the monitoring of the CPU/GPU. The clever tech will then adjust cooling fan speeds via Acer CoolBoost to keep them in optimal operation.
Power and looks
The Nitro 5’s chassis features a top cover with elegant laser texturing that gives it a carbon fibre vibe.
The matte, crimson red hinge is a gorgeous yet understated accent that beautifully matches the rest of the machine and its backlit keyboard.
The good looks continue on the 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display. We are promised brilliant imagery with crisp details.
Additionally, there’s a front-facing HD web camera for video calls, collaboration and celebrations if your gaming team proves victorious.
You can also easily broadcast games live with Mixer, directly from the Game bar on Windows 10 simply by pressing the Windows key plus G.
Audio and connections
Nifty visuals needs the audio to back them up. Thankfully, the Nitro 5 features finely-tuned, high-quality speakers with Dolby Audio Premium and Acer TrueHarmony tech.
Moreover, this equips you with the necessary gear to hone in on the faintest sound of tip-toeing attackers, and then relish in the reverberating boom of a carefully-placed landmine. All done in a loving, caring sort of way, of course.
Finally, the Nitro 5 features fast and reliable dual-stream 802.11ac wireless technology, a plethora of ports, including USB Type-C, HDMI 2.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. So, you’re pretty much sorted for everything you need on the go.
