Ricoh announce new rugged WG-4 cameras

Ricoh WG-4 cameraRicoh has revealed their new rugged waterproof cameras for the snap-happy adventurer which will be in stores next month.

The new WG-4 and WG-4 GPS (one is GPS-equipped and one isn’t) pack a fast 4x f2.0-4.9 25-100mm lens with sensor-shift and digital image stabilisation, and 16-megapixel backside-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor.

They also have a ring of six LEDs around the lens for macro photography (they can focus as close as 0.4-inch from a subject).

Around the back you’ll find a 3-inch 460K-dot-resolution LCD with 170-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles and, on the front of the GPS version, you get a small LCD display for reading time, pressure, and altitude info.

Storage comes in at 70mb internal memory that can be expanded with cards.

These cameras boast a high-sensitivity anti-shake mode as well as 29 modes to capture dramatic images such as HDR shooting mode, slow motion video capture, and new Shutter Priority shooting mode.

“The triple shake reduction system combines an image-sensor-shift-type SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism with the digital Pixel Track and high ISO Shake Reduction modes to more effectively protect shake-prone images and low light photography for incredibly sharp blur-free images. Keep your memories vibrant—enjoy the reliability of stunning sunsets, and always-sharp adventures.”

The WG-4 GPS will come in black and blue versions and sell for $379.95, while the WG-4 will be available for $329.95 in silver and lime yellow. Both versions arrive in March.
