Denon AH-D5200 headphones – elegant performers

Denon adds the new AH-D5200 headphones to their upper-mid range offerings.

Denon has announced the AH-D5200, a set of stylish, meticulously engineered headphones. Constructed from carefully selected woods and metals, and featuring proprietary Denon technologies, these new headphones should please your ears whether you’re on the move or at home.

Denon AH-D5200

The new Denon AH-D5200 is the smaller brother to the EISA Award Winning AH-D7200 headphones.

Utilising the natural acoustic properties of their beautiful, high density zebrawood housing to help reduce unwanted resonances, the headphones are loaded with Japanese-made FreeEdge 50mm drivers. The drivers are constructed from materials chosen for their high rigidity and low mass. The proprietary Denon designs cancel out unwanted distortion in the diaphragm. Additionally, they are mounted on vibration-reducing engineering resin baffles.

Adding some Yin to all that Yang, the soft, compliant surround materials make it easier for the drivers to move in response to the music signal without flexing or distorting. Moreover, this results in delivering the cleanest sound possible.

As a counterpoint to the organic wood, a durable diecast-aluminium headband frames the housing of the Denon AH-D5200. Furthermore, its universal, lightweight fit allows for comfortable extended listening. Finally, the high-quality, super-soft engineered leather covering is capable of withstanding extensive use while retaining its aesthetic appeal.

Availability and price

The AH-D5200, priced at £549, is available now through authorised Denon retailers. They’re also available from Amazon but with a huge mark-up.
