Acer Iconia W700P and W150P Windows 8 tablets announced
If you’re looking for a Windows 8 tablet with some serious grunt, Acer‘s two new Iconia slates – the W700P and W510P – might be just the thing you need.
With the Windows RT version of the Surface price being leaked out it might be worth hanging on to see what Acer’s new duo have up their sleeves.
The main thing to note is that both of these tablets run the full fat version of Windows 8 Pro. This means that whether you’re wanting to watch a movie on the move of complete those business reports, you know that these will handle both jobs easily.
The W700P comes packing a 11.6-inch IPS HD touchscreen display, Dolby Home Theatre sound and what Acer claims is a 178-degree viewing angle, making it handy for presentations. You also get a keyboard dock that doubles up as a stand, and adds three high-speed USB 3.0 ports plus a ‘sound tunnel’ for amplifying the audio. Finally, there’s a pen stylus for taking notes, digital style.
That cradle also provides the tablet with landscape or portrait support. When used in landscape, it can sit at 70 degrees, for sharing presentations, or at 20 degrees, for a more ergonomic touch experience, whereas in portrait mode it’s good for reading and browsing.
Up next is the W510P. The 10-inch tablet comes with a dock that doubles up as a keyboard, battery-prolonger and stand for when you just want to kick back and watch a movie or watch YouTube videos of cats with friends. Acer claims a battery life of 18 hours.
Both new Iconias focus on playing nice with IT equipment and security – so the IT department has no excuse for turning down your request for a Windows 8 tablet. You need it. For work.
There’s no word on pricing or availability just yet – these details should be known soon as Windows 8 is officially launched on October 26th.
I’m hoping to get one or both of these tablets to review so keep coming back to GadgetyNews 🙂
