Rude Xbox One and PS4 gamers getting quickly banned

As soon as some users get hooked up to the world wide web, you just know that mischief will follow. Well, next gen gamers on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are already being dealt with.

Users of the new Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles are being given the boot due to “excessive profanity” and reported nudity respectively.

Even though the Xbox One only went on sale on Friday, users are already being banned for uploading videos with too much swearing. Who could’ve seen that coming? 😉

Microsoft told TechCrunch that “We want a clean, safe and fun environment for all users,” going on to state that “Excessive profanity as well as other Code of Conduct violations will be enforced upon and result in suspension of some or all privileges on Xbox Live. We remain committed to preserving and promoting a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all of our Xbox Live members.”

Before you shout “Big Brother’s listening and watching!”, Microsoft has promised that it wasn’t monitoring players’ personal communications, only content on Upload Studio, the Xbox One’s video editing and sharing app. Hmmm… so you’re still being monitored then?

It’s the PlayStation 4’s Twitch streaming that’s causing problems for Sony thanks to some unsuitably sexy shenanigans.

Apparently one user streamed some home-made bedroom activity using the aptly named ‘Playroom’ app. The account in question was banned.

Twitch has had to restate its terms of service whilst pointing out that “non-gaming content is not allowed” and, “If using PS4 Playroom, the content must be about games or gaming and within our ToS.”

I think it’s fair to assume that games of naked Twister doesn’t count.

Things haven’t gone as smoothly as Sony and Microsoft would’ve liked with both consoles being dogged by reported hardware faults – the PS4 experiencing a ‘Blue Light of Death‘ and the Xbox’s disc drive refusing to play, instead preferring to make unnerving sounds, which has prompted some bizarre methods to fixing it.

The two companies have insisted very few consoles are affected, and Microsoft is giving away free games to people who have to send their ‘box back. The PS4 goes on sale in the UK this Friday.

Would it be fair to say that Microsoft and Sony should’ve been able to predict this naughtiness or were they relying on gamers being all about the gaming?
