Sony QX10 and QX100 clip on smartphone lenses leaked in video ad
Ooopsy! It’s looks like the cat’s out of the bag now that Sony’s QX10 and QX100 attachable smartphone lenses have leaked out in an online video.
The accidentally leaked video below hands us our first proper look at the upcoming clever smartphone camera add-ons.
Sony hasn’t officially announced the lenses, but this advertisement for the QX10 and QX100 looks pretty official to me.
The clip shows that it’s pretty easy to attach the lens to an Xperia handset – I should imagine that this will go for other phones too, hopefully.
Oddly enough, it looks like you’ll be able to use the lenses even if they aren’t attached to your smartphone….
The PlayMemories app will be used to control each lens for getting that perfect Facebook, Flickr or Instagram pic. The ad also that shows the lenses will pair with devices in that simple one-touch NFC pairing experience we all now know and love.
The video doesn’t mention the rumoured specs but word is that the DSC-QX100 will ship with the same sensor used in the RX100 Mark II, while the DSC-QX10 lens will include a larger 10x zoom and a 1/2.3-inch 18-megapixel CMOS sensor.
Sony Alpha Rumors states that the QX10 and the QX100 will cost $250 and $450 respectively, available later this month in Sony’s online store, according to a leaked press release.
