iPhone event, Apple trade-in offers and iOS 7 release leaked
Things are hotting up in Apple-land with a bunch of news tidbits that are sure to send fanboys and girls in to a tizzy.
Let’s kick off with the release of the next generation of iPhones.
Apple hasn’t officially said when it’ll be showing off the next-gen iPhone, but we already know that the company will be calling the media together on September 10th to unveil the device.
One question that remains is whether Apple will actually show multiple new iPhones: rumors have been swirling this summer of a new midrange model made of cheaper materials, so it stands to reason we could be seeing the launch both of that and an iPhone 5 replacement as well.
It’s thought that the new iPad and retina displayed iPad Mini would be left for their own jamboree.
It appears that we will, however, get to meet with the new Apple mobile operating system, iOS 7, on the 10th though.
A developer named Owen Williams received an email indicating that iOS 7 would be released to the general public on the 10th, giving non-developers their first peek at the controversial operating system. The email comes from Nuance, which works closely enough with Apple to know the date in advance.
The news could also indicate that the release date of the new iPhones will come much closer to the September 10th event itself. Apple could even opt for a day-of release, a move the company has executed successfully with other products, but never attempted with the iPhone.

The Cupertino company is preparing to launch a new iPhone trade-in program, according to 9to5Mac.
The program, which may go live in Apple stores as soon as next month, would allow customers to swap an old iPhone for a newer model.
This would work much like existing trade-in programmes at other retailers and carriers, which offer customers money for their old phone based on its age and condition.
While Apple sells the iPhone in its retail stores, many of the company’s phone sales come from third parties. By offering in-store trade-ins, Apple could potentially increase the number of handsets that it sells on its own.
During the company’s most recent earnings call, CEO Tim Cook said he was not opposed to a trade-in program, and that there were positive environmental benefits associated with it.
