Pi-Top – the 3D printed Raspberry Pi laptop kit
The Raspberry Pi has taken the maker world by storm. From what was once a modest crowdfunding project has turned in to the gadgety tweaker’s must-have. The latest mod is named the Pi-Top and will convert your little puter in to a fully featured laptop.
Following the PiPhone and the refreshed ZX81, the Pi-Top is a DIY laptop based around the Raspberry Pi.
The Pi-Top doesn’t use any of those tiny, portable displays that are currently available for the Raspberry Pi, but instead uses a 13.3-inch 1366×768 HD TFT LCD display — basically the size of MacBook or Chromebook.
The Pi-Top top comes with all the parts you need to make your own laptop. This includes the case, a battery that lasts six to eight hours, a keyboard and trackpad, a WiFi adapter, an electronics breadboard, and printed circuit boards to every port and peripheral.
As this is the future, if you get bored of the case, you can 3D print your own as the kit also includes 3D printing files.
The Pi-Top starts at a $249 pledge on Indiegogo where the campaign target of $80,000 has been smashed and currently stands at $113,656!
