Samsung Slow-moIf you were at All Points East at Victoria Park last week you may have noticed the new epic Samsung Galaxy S9 Super Slow-mo experience and viewing platform. It will reappear for British Summer Time Hyde Park (6th – 8th July and 13th – 15th July).

Last weekend at All Points East, festival-goers were able to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the epic views whilst the likes of Patti Smith and Nick Cave were performing on the main stage.

Thousands stopped by to capture their Super Slow-mo selfie and shared their moment using #GalaxyS9 and #withGalaxy.

Golden Ticket

Samsung Slow-moIt gets even better though.

Throughout the rest of the festival season, Samsung are offering a ‘Golden Ticket’ opportunity. This gives the lucky fest fan access to the VIP platform with incredible panoramic views of the festival. For a chance to win, just share your Super Slow-mo video on social media. Furthermore, up to 15 winners will be chosen daily.

How

Samsung Slow-moFor those simply wondering how to take the best festival snaps and videos on their Galaxy S9, the camera has two key features, perfect for capturing the best festival moments:

  • Super low-light – a revolutionary technology that adapts like the human eye, meaning you can take stunning festival stills; from bright afternoon sets to moonlight raves
  • Super Slow-mo – if you’re not able to visit the Samsung viewing platform, you can take your own Super Slow-mo videos on your Galaxy S9 to capture epic on-site dance moves

Words

Sam Grant, Chief Marketing Officer at Samsung Electronics told us:

We can’t wait to share our on-site experience with music fans this festival season. Whether capturing low-light sunset gig shots or taking a Super Slow-mo video on the Galaxy S9, we are excited to enable festival goers to capture their moment in the best way possible.”

BOOSTUP StandBelkin has released two new BOOST UP wireless charging products for Qi-enabled devices. One is a stand, the other a charging pad. Both are now available in the UK.

Following on from the announcement at CES earlier this year, Belkin has released its two new wireless chargers.

BOOST UP Wireless Charging Pad and Charging Stand

BOOSTUP PadThe Belkin BOOST UP Wireless Charging Pad offers up to 10W output for fast charging on all Qi-enabled devices.

It also supports the 7.5W charging necessary for fast wireless charging on the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

BOOSTUP StandAdditionally, the Belkin BOOST UP Wireless Charging Stand features a circular design for the charging element. However, it also features a frame that holds your device in either portrait or landscape positions. This makes it handy for using your phone whilst still charging it.

Like the Charging Pad, the Charging Stand supports the faster 7.5W wireless charging specification for the iPhone.

Price and availability

BOOSTUP Pad PinkBoth the stand and pad are available now in Midnight Black and Snowcap White. Although, I have spotted a pink version of the BOOST UP charging pad too. – perhaps there’s a more colourful range of charging goodies on their way soon? 😉

You can buy them direct from Belkin for £64.99 for the stand, and £54.99 for the pad. They are also available from Amazon and other outlets.

samsung galaxy s9 and s9+

Samsung Galaxy S9 UK priceThe Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones are now available in stores and online.

Samsung’s new flagship smartphones boast the company’s advanced camera. Redesigned with a new dual aperture lens that powers an innovative low-light camera, Super Slow-mo video capabilities and personalised AR Emoji.

Best of all, you can by it right now. Prices for both the S9 and S9+ can be found at the bottom of the page, along with some deals from Vodafone.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+

samsung galaxy s9 and s9+The Galaxy S9 and S9+ deliver an enhanced entertainment experience with powerful stereo speakers tuned by AKG, surround effect supported by Dolby Atmos and a refined edge-to-edge Infinity Display.

Additionally, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes with the new SmartThings app, which unites Samsung’s existing IoT services into one single, smart experience.

Camera reimagined

Today’s cameras are for more than taking pictures – they’re for connecting and communicating. The Galaxy S9 and S9+’s cameras pack a Super Speed Dual Pixel sensor with dedicated processing power and memory to take amazing shots with high photo quality.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+’s camera features include:

Super Slow-mo

Make every day moments epic with dynamic, slow-motion video that captures 960 frames per second. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ also offers automatic Motion Detection. This intelligent feature detects movement in the frame and automatically begins to record – all you have to do is set up the shot. After capturing the Super Slow-mo video, you can then select background music from 35 different options or add a tune from their favourite playlist. Also, you can also easily create, edit and share GIF files with a simple tap in three playful styles of looping to watch the action over and over again.

Low Light Camera

Good lighting is the secret to any great photo. But often, photos are taken in less-than-ideal lighting conditions and most smartphone cameras have a fixed aperture. This tends to result in grainy or washed out pictures. Similar to the way the iris of a human eye expands and contracts, Samsung’s Dual Aperture (F1.5/ F2.4) automatically lets in more light when it’s dark and less light when it’s too bright, taking photos that are crisp and clear.

AR Emoji

galaxy s9 ar emojiAll phones now need to produce animated emojis. Samsung’s offering lets users create an emoji that looks, sounds and acts like them.

AR Emoji uses a data-based machine learning algorithm. This analyses a 2D image of you and maps out more than 100 facial features to create a 3D model that reflects and imitates expressions, like winks and nods, for true personalisation.

Bixby

Samsung’s intelligence platform, integrated into the camera, uses augmented reality and deep learning technologies to provide helpful information about your surroundings.

With real-time object detection and recognition, Bixby instantly generates information directly on top of the image that the camera is pointing at. Users can translate foreign languages and currency in real time with Live Translation, learn about their surroundings, purchase products seen in the real world and track calories throughout the day.

Entertainment reimagined

galaxy s9 stereoAs previously mentioned, the S9s offers premium sound experiences with stereo speakers tuned by AKG. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ also support Dolby Atmos, giving the effect of 360-degree sound.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ audio experience is complemented by Samsung’s revolutionary Infinity Display. First introduced on the Galaxy S8, the bold, bright Super AMOLED Infinity Display blends right into the phone with virtually no distracting notches 😉 With adaptive contrast enhancement, users can use their device even in direct sunlight.

DeX

For those constantly on the move, the next-generation Samsung DeX empowers a mobile lifestyle by bringing a large, full-screen experience to the mobile handset. With DeX Pad, a new docking system, users can easily connect the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to a larger monitor, keyboard and mouse to expand the mobile experience with enhanced document editing or even full-screen gaming. You can also transform the Galaxy S9 and S9+ into a Touch Pad with the DeX Pad.

More

s9 coloursFinally, there is IP68 water and dust resistance, and wireless charging.

The devices also support expandable memory of up to 400GB with a Micro SD Card.

In addition, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ give users the peace of mind knowing that their phone is protected by Knox 3.1, Samsung’s latest defence-grade security platform.

Samsung Galaxy S9 s9+The Galaxy S9 and S9+ support three different biometric authentication options – iris, fingerprint, and facial recognition. This enables you to select the way you want to protect your device and applications.

The devices support Intelligent Scan, a new verification that intelligently uses the collective strength of iris scanning and facial recognition technology to quickly and conveniently unlock a user’s phone in various situations.

They also introduce Dedicated Fingerprint, giving users the option to use a different fingerprint to access Secure Folder than the one used to unlock the phone.

Price and availability

It is available now in three colours: Midnight Black, Coral Blue and a new hue, Lilac Purple.

Price

  • S9 – £739
  • S9+ – £869

galaxy note 6 uk launch

galaxy note 6 ukSamsung Galaxy Note 6 UK launch is on the cards – unlike its predecessor which was extremely conspicuous by its absence.

Samsung Note 5 – who in the UK owns one? Well, unless you imported a Note 5, then you would have been hard pushed to get one on this tiny group of islands.

Since Sammy decided to ignore the UK in its release plans for the Note 5 much to the disappointment of all stylus-lovers here. There were rumours of a January launch, but there is still an empty space on the UK’s Sammy shelves.

Samsung has apparently however decided not to disappoint fans UK fans this time around, with Tech Radar reporting on plans of a Galaxy Note 6 UK launch happening later this year.

The handset will apparently be available for UK-based gadgety fans in August, taking the place of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge+.

galaxy note 6 uk launchYup, the Galaxy Note 6 UK launch will mean that Samsung’s flagship 2016 lineup here will consist of the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and the Galaxy Note 6.

According to the source:

Samsung isn’t going to launch the S7 Edge+ in the UK. I got the impression that it had been a bit of a disappointment sales-wise and that the decision to keep the Note 5 out of Europe is now considered a mistake… So our information is that the Note 6 will launch in the UK in August and that there will be no S7 Edge+.”

Samsung confirmed earlier this month that it will announce its next devices in the form of the teaser video below.

This appetiser suggests a VR-related announcement at the Barcelona launch.

The video doesn’t reveal overly much else, but leaked images have shown pretty much all there is to know about the two Sammy smartphones. Expect 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch QHD screens, a heavily-skinned version of Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow software, IP67 dust- and water-resistance certification, 12MP rear-facing cameras and microSD slots with support for cards up to 200GB.

This is all unofficial at the moment but as Samsung’s Unpacked 2016 event is only on February 21st, we don’t have long to wait.
