Smach Zero handheld Steam gaming console priced

smach zero controllerSmach Zero – the portable Steam machine formerly known as SteamBoy is all set to launch late next year, manufacturer Smach has also announced the pricing and confirmed the specs.

I am still digging my NVIDIA Shield tablet, although it might burst in to flames at any moment, but I am excited to discover that Smach have revealed the renamed portable SteamOS device at Gamescon and have stated that it will arrive in Q4 2016 – in time for your letter to Santa.

The Smach Zero will cost $299 (€299 in Europe) for pre-orders starting November 10th of this year, and will likely see a price increase by the time the hardware hits official release.

Smach also promises that the Zero will be able to play more than 1,000 games from Steam’s library on day one.
