Ashton Kutcher Given Steve Jobs Role – Dude, Where’s my Black Sweater?
There were plenty of tech and gadgety April Fools pranks going on yesterday and, to be honest, I though that this was one of them but, apparently, Ashton Kutcher is set to play Steve Jobs in a Hollywood flick simply called ‘Jobs’.
It turns out that I wasn’t the only one to give the news that the ex-Mr Demi Moore was to play the most famous man to wear a turtleneck the “yerrright!” response.
In fact the entertainment know-alls at Variety considered holding back the news because of the date.
The truth is that the movie will depict the life of Apple founder Steve Jobs from his creation of the company in a garage on April Fool’s Day in 1976, through the wilderness years after he was fired, and up to his return to Apple in 1997 where he made the company arguably the most recognised tech brand in the world.
‘Jobs’ is directed by Joshua Michael Stern with a script by Matt Whiteley.
Cameras are due to roll next month during Kutcher’s summer break from filming Two and a Half Men where he took over from ever winning Charlie Sheen.
Kutcher is no stranger to tech – he was the first person to reach a million followers on Twitter and was involved in VoIP startup Ooma. He’s even bought a ticket to go in to space (see video below)!
The question is if Mr K will be able to handle such a straight and possibly complex role?
iSteve was said to be both a volatile and demanding man – so is the guy from ‘Dude, where’s my car?’ the prime choice?
I have to admit that there is a likeness.
