Tubular new Apple Mac Pro now on sale
I know that you’ve been waiting for this news with wads of money burning a hole in your pocket. In an announcement late yesterday Apple said that it would begin offering customers the opportunity to get their hands on the radically designed new Mac Pro from today.
As promised, the new Apple Mac Pro is now available to buy, if you have the money.
The base model of the Mac Pro starts at £2,499. It comes with a quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor, 12GB of system memory, dual AMD FirePro graphics processors and 256GB of flash storage. The six-core configuration with 16GB of memory costs £3,299.
Both models are available to order today ready for delivery in January.
The cylindrical computer was first unveiled in June at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
Phil Schiller, Apple’s head of marketing announced it with the now famous line “can’t innovate anymore, my ass”.
Schiller’s outburst was in response to criticism from analysts that the company had lost its ability to create new and exciting products following the passing of its founder Steve Jobs.
Interesting factoid: The Mac Pro is the first to be made in the United States for nearly a decade.
The 35cm high black cylinder has a diameter of around 18cm and weighs just 5kg. Not bad at all for a Mac Pro.
Let me know if you’ll be ordering one.
