Cambridge Audio SE1 headphones return
Cambridge Audio have announced the return of their SE1 earphones.
Originally launched in 2016, the SE1s debuted as part of an innovative programme where consumers could pay their own price. Not only that, 100% of the proceeds of the sales were donated to national charity, Youth Music.
Quick sale
The SE1 earphones were produced in a limited edition run of just 1000 pieces. All of those sold in less than 24 hours with nearly £27,000 being raised for Youth Music.
The funds were invested into music-making projects for children and young people.
Cambridge Audio SE1 released
Thanks to very vocal and positive customer reaction Cambridge Audio were moved to put the headphones on full sale.
The SE1s will only be available directly via the Cambridge Audio website. This enables the company to offer the headphones at an ultra competitive price.
Not only that, the company will continue to donate 50% of the proceeds to Youth Music.
The SE1s were conceived, designed and engineered at Cambridge Audio’s HQ in London SE1. Using the company’s near 50 years’ experience of creating some of the finest sounding audio products – each delivering that neutral, uncoloured and ultra-realistic musical performance known as the Great British Sound.
Also in common with all Cambridge Audio products, the SE1s feature materials and a specification normally reserved for far more expensive headphones.
Tech Spec
Cambridge Audio have chosen to use the expensive, rare material, beryllium in the diaphragms of the specially developed 8mm speaker drivers.
Beryllium is an ideal material thanks to it being lighter than aluminium while stiffer than titanium and is also exceptionally well damped, minimising any unwanted ‘ringing’.
To avoid colouring the pure sound of the SE1s, the driver housing is machined from rigid, aircraft-grade aluminium. High purity oxygen-free copper can be found in the connecting wires.
Apparently, all this provides a very fast but remarkably accurate response with exceptionally low distortion, giving a punchy yet silky smooth and clean sound.
The high-quality theme extends to SE1 headphone’s overall design with an in-line mic and remote control and storage pouch.
Seven different ear tips are also provided in the package. You get three different sizes of Comply foam ear tips (small, medium, large) and four different silicone ear tips (small, 2 x medium, large).
All in all, this high-quality in-ear headphone is an exceptional product both for its continued charitable contribution to Youth Music and in its ability to bring you closer to your favourite tracks.
Making music. Changing lives
Youth Music is a national charity investing in music-making projects for children and young people experiencing challenging circumstances.
Everyone should have the chance to make music. And those facing difficulties – economic problems, lifelong conditions, tough circumstances or behavioural issues – are often the ones who get the most out of music-making.
Projects supported by Youth Music help young people develop musically, of course, but they have personal and social outcomes too.
The charity offers meaningful chances to young people in complicated situations.
You can help Youth Music make a genuine difference to many more young lives. Find out more at www.youthmusic.org.uk
