Lenovo Yoga and ideapad MIIX laptops launched – MWC 2016
Mobile World Conference saw a range of Lenovo YOGA laptops and TAB3 tablets launched.
Lenovo unleashed a slew of new products at MWC 2016, including smartphones, tablets and notebooks, each one seemingly having a special power.
Lenovo’s new Windows notebooks includes both convertible laptops and a detachable notebook, each offering a unique set of features.
If you are still unfamiliar with Lenovo’s convertible YOGA range, these handy laptops have the ability to flip their screens all the way around so that they can be used as large tablets. I am still running a YOGA 2 Pro and love it.
The detachable ideapad MIIX can actually be released from its keyboard base for when only a tablet needs to be carried.
Lenovo YOGA 710
The 14-inch YOGA 710 (€899) is powered by a 6th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and up to Core m5 processor on the smaller 11-inch model (€799).
The YOGA 710 comes with Windows 10 and the 11-inch version weighs only 1.04kg. Its compact size and ability to convert into a tablet makes it ideal for people looking to save space in their bags. The YOGA 710 keeps the previous YOGA DNA in being able to flex into four modes that make it easy to type in laptop mode, present in stand mode, watch videos in tent mode, or browse in tablet mode.
The 14-inch YOGA 710 also has an up to 256GB solid state drive (SSD) for fast access to movies, pictures, and files without having to use an external hard drive. It also has enhanced performance with optional next generation NVIDIA GeForce graphics.
Beautifully slim and light, both models offer up to 8 hours of battery so users can enjoy a movie marathon and still have charge to squeeze in a couple of hours of work. The FHD (1920×1080) display makes everything from movies and photos to games and video chat look sharper. The addition of Dolby Audio Premium should energise entertainment with rich, powerful sound.
As well as being packed with up to a sixth-generation Intel chip there’s up to 8GB of RAM on offer, all packed in a neat metal unibody design. The laptop also has a slew of ports you can use, including one USB 3.0 and one micro-HDMI port – there’s no USB Type-C port on it though, or on any other new Lenovo gadget.
There’s a lot of magic in Lenovo’s hinges, the 14-inch Yoga 710 is supposed to offer you 20% better Wi-Fi connectivity in tablet mode because that’s where the antenna resides. The 11-inch model won’t get the same Wi-Fi amplifying hinge just yet.
The YOGA 710 will be available starting May 2016.
Lenovo YOGA 510
Thanks to a new stylish design, lighter weight, and more than 50% improvement in battery life, the new YOGA 510 delivers up to 8.5 hours and lets users say goodbye to sitting on the floor tied to an outlet.
Similar to the YOGA 710, the new YOGA 510 delivers a smooth transition between laptop, stand, tent, and tablet modes. Lighter than before at only 1.75kg (14-inch – €479) and 2.08kg (15-inch – €699), its new design has a unique diamond cut palm rest. Powered by up to 6th Gen Intel Core i7 processors with optional AMD Radeon R7 M460 2GB GFX, the YOGA 5101 has serious performance chops for working and multitasking.
We’re used to seeing fast-charging batteries in some of the hottest smartphones out there. But what if laptops could charge just as quickly? That’s what the Yoga 510 will deliver which means you only need 2.5 hours to get a 100% charge.
The Yoga 510 has Harman sound instead of the 710’s Dolby Audio Premium. These will be available starting from April 2016
Lenovo ideapad MIIX 310
Finally, the ideapad MIIX 310 detachable laptop packs a special hinge that lets you adjust the angle while in laptop mode. And yes, the keyboard is included in the package. How much does will it cost? Just €269 and will be available from this June.
Weighing just 580g, the versatile 2-in-1 detachable ideapad MIIX 310 tablet has optional 4G LTE that caters to data junkies who want the freedom to work and roam the web from any location.
Offering more battery life than before, the ideapad MIIX 310 boasts up to 10 hours of battery life with an optional FHD display, making movie marathons that much more immersive.
With up to 64GB eMMC storage and 4GB DDR3L of memory, users will enjoy up to double the memory than before for faster web surfing and smoother multitasking. And with Cortana and Lenovo REACHit on the ideapad MIIX 310, users have the convenience of finding documents, photos, music, videos, and more in a more natural and contextual way.
