PowerEgg drone hatched by Powervision

poweregg openPowerEgg – nope, this not a new thing from an energy drink company that’s being released for Easter, this is a new drone that I have been made aware of.

News of the PowerEgg came by way of a very nice message from its makers, Powervision, to the GadgetyNews Facebook page.

The PowerEgg features an innovative egg shape which, in addition to being aesthetically different than the many X-shape four-axis drones currently on the market, makes it foldable and easy to transport.

To me, this brought back memories of the flying egg called Ludwig.

Now, I do like how it looks. A lot. I also like how it appears to have motors that push the arms up in readiness for flight.

Yes, the PowerEgg looks rather, well, egg-shaped so I am not entirely sure how it will handle flight but I guess eggs are quite aerodynamic.

Watching the video, it seems that this ovoid drone can fly with either its 4K 360 gimbal camera attached or not.

poweregg closedAccording to Powervision CEO Wally Zheng,

Powervision wanted to create a beautiful yet functional design for the PowerEgg. We think the oval shape is not only clean and pure but also has the structural and functional benefits. This simple yet vital design means that this is more than a flying robot but a work of art.”

The PowerEgg promises to be extremely lightweight and easy to fly. Powervision states that, currently, the average consumer drone requires at least 10 hours of flight time for consumers to learn how to use. By using their extensive knowledge in design and user experience, Powervision is able to lower that significantly to the point that “even a five-year-old” can do it.

So, just the thing to bring with you whilst butterfly collecting near an erupting volcano.

More details can be found at Powervision‘s site. I do hope I get a chance to review the PowerEgg when it is launched.

Check out the video below – it really does look cool.
