Nintendo 3DS UK Release and Prices Officially Announced
The wait for the 3DS is nearly over.
The Nintendo glasses-free 3D portable gaming device is due to arrive in Blighty on March 25th.
Nintendo has confirmed that the 3DS will be supported by a minimum of 25 3D game releases by June with a full catalogue of titles broad enough to satisfy all gamers.
The 3DS will be available in Cosmos Black or Aqua Blue flavours and will be rocking a 3.5-inch sans-specs 3D display and dual rear-facing cameras allowing for 3D snaps.
Joining Nintendogs and Mario Kart will be Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2011 3D and Street Fighter IV in 3D. Nice 🙂
The battery sucking Wi-Fi element comes in two forms – SpotPass and StreetPass.
SpotPass will allow the console to hook-up to BT fon Wi-Fi hotspots in the UK so that you can receive game related notifications and data as well as 3D video content from EuroSport and, further down the line, Sky 3D.
StreetPass will allow 3DS owners to share and interact with each other remotely. Things like exchanging gamer information with fellow 3DS users they pass in the street. You can obviously chose whether or not you wish to share your Mii and what the last game you loaded was.
Stateside gamers get the 3DS on March 27th priced $249.99 and we over in the old country get it 3 days earlier.  Nintendo has declared that UK retailers will decide on the retail price. HMV is currently offering the 3DS for pre-order priced £229.99.
Are you looking forward to it or have all the scary eye stories put you off?
