Google Music Announced at MWC 2011 – Android Cloud-based iTunes Rival Incoming
Do you have or are considering an Android phone or tablet? Are you being swayed by the simplicity of iTunes syncing all your music and allowing Apple users to buy and arrange their entertainment wherever they are?
Well, according to Motorola CEO, Sanjay Jha, Google’s own iTunes competitor is just around the corner.
The information was slipped into the conversation while Jha was chatting about the Motorola XOOM at MWC.
He pointed out that: “If you look at Google Mobile services today, there’s a video service, there’s a music service – that is, there will be a music service.”
There you have it – straight from the Moto Chief which is as good as coming direct from Google themselves.
The rumours wafting around the interweblogosphere are generally agreed that this would be a cloud-based service that would let users stream content to their mobile devices on the go – this means that huge hard drives wont be necessary, but a decent connection would.
As the XOOM should be dropping in the states in the next week with the UK following close behind so it would make sense that an official announcement from Google about the new music service can’t be far away.
