HTC J Butterfly Android phone packs full HD 1080p display [video]
HTC has launched a new flagship Android smartphone which is packing an iPhone-beatingly impressive 5-inch, 1080p display, called the HTC J Butterfly.
The new HTC J Butterfly is not only equipped with a rather sizable screen, the display is rated at being the first full HD, 1080p and 440ppi resolution smartphones.
Just a quick reminder – the iPhone 5‘s retina screen has a 640 × 1136 resolution at 326 ppi.
It’s not entirely good news however – well, not if you live anywhere other than Japan anyhow. The HTC J Butterfly will only be available through Japan’s mobile operator KDDI. The J should’ve given it away really 😉
HTC does state that its screen will appear on other models, available globally.
The Butterfly is not only a pretty face either. The device is powered by a quad-core, 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and an 8-megapixel camera, and it’s running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The device is only 9.1mm thick, but it still has a leggy 2,020mAh battery inside.
I’m looking forward to what goodies HTC has planned to send over to the UK in the near future, in the meantime check out the Verge hands-on video below.
