Sony Xperia i1 teaser shows thin and curved flagship Honami smartphone

honami-i1-teaserThere’s been so many leaks I dare say that we’re already well acquainted with Sony’s unannounced next phone, known by some as Honami and others as Xperia i1.

Though the phone does not officially exist, Sony’s South Korean boss has confirmed that the handset would be launching in his country before the end of the year.

Since then, a number of leaks have hinted at the phone. Most of the images and specifications have hinted that it will be very much like Sony’s flagship Xperia Z, albeit with a focus on photography – Previous leaks have suggested that the handset will come with a 20-megapixel rear camera.

Whether or not a teaser image is needed at this point, who knows. But there it is, in purple.

However, this latest leak, via DigiWo, has thrown doubts on how similar to the Xperia Z the  i1 actually is. Could that be a curved back on the new Sony smartphone for a start?

It confirms that Sony is planning to announce something at this year’s IFA tech show in Berlin on September 4th, and given that this teaser image looks vaguely like the other leaked Xperia i1 images, it’s probably that.

Other specs that have floated around the interweblogosphere are that the Xperia i1 will be endowed with a 5-inch 1080p display being pushed along by a Qualcaomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

As well as that 20MP camera there’s a 2MP video call lens up front and, as you’d expect, the new Xperia will support 4G LTE and NFC.
