DIY lightsabers – no tech knowledge needed
This is a step closer to the ultimate dream for most of us – to own our own custom lightsaber. Thanks to a range of adaptive saber parts, you can choose your own parts to build your dream Jedi weapon.
Phillip Isherwood at Saber Forge has launched a Kickstarter campaign which enables backers to design and build their own dream lightsaber, similar to those seen in the Star Wars movies.
The Adaptive Saber Parts in the range are all highly detailed modular elements which will let anyone build a beautiful custom saber, complete with electronics, but without the soldering and machining.
This is an awesome way of getting your very own movie quality custom saber without the expensive machinery, soldering equipment, or years of prop building experience.
Should the Kickstarter campaign reach its goal, Saber Forge will initially release over a hundred unique metal parts in three different finishes putting millions of different design configurations at your fingertips, and every month they will release a new expansion set, making the possibilities endless.
Personally, I’m already sold and can see where some of my birthday money is heading! The $225 pledge converts roughly to £150 😉
In addition SF will offer “plug and play” no solder electronics kits for upgrading your custom saber hilt to a dueling saber with a light up blade, or a fully functional hero level prop with lights, motion detection, and sound.
The video on the campaign page shows how the polycarbonate ‘blades’ will withstand an energetic dual proving that these aren’t just ornamental.
