LG G5 screen will always be on
The LG G5 screen has something special going on. The latest LG is gearing up for its outing at Mobile World Congress 2016 and this latest teaser image shows its screen as being “always on”.
The image of the LG G5 screen gives us an idea of LG’s plan to rework its own Glance View system as used within the G Flex 2 and G4. This time it’s different, mind, as it appears to cover a larger area of the phone.
So, it seems that we have to be prepared to sleep through the eternal soft glow of the G5’s screen.
Remember the YotaPhone – the device that had two screens; your usual colour thing and a low-power e-ink option for saving power? Well, it looks like LG might be taking that idea further by making an always-on phone that has a single display but doesn’t drain the battery.

As you can see, this has all now been confirmed by LG on Twitter.
The neat GIF shows a fairly standard layout for the Always On Display, so there may be constraints on what can be put on there. That makes sense as, even though the LG G5 screen in always on mode is monochrome, if you start shoving a bunch of things on there it will soon start slurping at the battery.
The LG G5 looks like it will be an interesting smartphone and as LG has already stated that they are “ready to take on Samsung”.
The new LG G5 is rumored to come packing a 5.6-inch display with a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a density of 525 pixels per inch (ppi).
The device will feature the new flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and will also come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built in storage, there will also be a microSD card slot for extra storage.
