Free LG Optimus 2x on Vodafone Contract

The LG Optimus 2x was pencilled in for a February release as I reported last week and now Vodafone has come out with its prices for the phone on their pay monthly tariffs.

The Vodafone contracts start at £30.65 per month and that earns you the Optimus 2x for free along with unlimited texts, 300 minutes and 500MB of internet. Free gifts with the contract include a universal PDA/phone car mounting kit and a microUSB car charger.

The dual-cored Optimus 2x was unleashed at CES 2011 running Android 2.2 Froyo on its Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor. It has been recently announced that the OS is getting bumped up to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The phone is equipped with a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen display and 8GB of internal memory, which can be increased by 32GB via microSD.

The LG has bragging rights to being the first handset to possess full HD 1080p video recording and playback.

Expansys seems to be showing a release date of 18 March 2011 on its pre-order page for a SIM-free Optimus 2x – costing £500.
