Oppo Find 7 phone packs Quad HD display and takes 50MP pics
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has taken the wraps off its Find 7 Android smartphone today in Beijing and the specs will make you look twice.
Oppo has officially announced its Find 7 flagship smartphone and it’s almost like the Chinese phone cobbler has read all the latest rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and iPhone 6 and used them as a shopping list.
Hold on to your seats and try not to look at your current mobile with disdain whilst reading on.
The Find 7 boasts a 5.5-inch screen that churns out an eye-teasing 538ppi (pixels per inch) thanks to its QHD (quad HD) 1440 x 2560 resolution. Thankfully, that lovely screen is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3 so there’s little chance of scratches ruining that super high-res image.
It is powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, comes with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and runs on a 3,000 mAh battery. That battery, by-the-way has it’s own neat trick as it can charge from 0 to 75% in just 30 minutes. How good is that?!?
As you’ll no doubt be packing this thing with loads of video and photos, Oppo have added a microSD slot that’s compatible with the latest 128GB cards.
The smartphone runs a customised Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, which the company dubs Color OS 1.2.
The Find 7 can actually take 50-megapixel photos but, as with many things in life, not all is as it seems. The sensor is actually a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 CMOS, so it relies on some clever software trickery to do the rest.
By taking ten photos at the backend via that 13MP sensor it can produce 50 megapixel photos with its ‘Super Zoom’ feature.
It also allows for video recording in full 4k resolution, and 720p 120 frame-per-second slow motion videos.
At the same time, Oppo also released a lower-priced Find 7a to cater to a wider range of customers.
The Find 7a comes with a full HD display (1920x1080p), a 2.3GHZ quad-core processor, a 2800 mAh battery, and less storage of 16GB.
The Oppo Find 7a will be released on 20 March for 2,998 Yuan (£291).
The flagship Oppo Find 7 hasn’t got a release date yet but will be priced at 3,998 Yuan (£645).
Here’s a hands-on video of the phone in action.
