Samsung Galaxy S6 and Edge UK preorders open this week
Samsung has announced that pre-orders of its new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 smartphones will start this Friday the 20th of March.
Samsung has announced that UK preorders can be placed this Friday with the handsets officially launching on the 10th of April, although people who order the devices direct from Samsung will get them on the 9th of April.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge move away from Samsung’s old design philosophy and offer premium metal unibody builds encased in super strong Gorilla Glass 4.
Both handsets come with a 5.1-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixel and the Galaxy S6 Edge features a curved display.
Processing on these new Galaxy S6 smartphones comes in the form of Samsung’s new Exynos 7420 processor and they also come with 3GB of RAM and a choice of 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of built in storage.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge feature wireless charging and a fast charge option that Samsung says gives 4 hours use from a 10-minute charge. Both also feature upgraded f/1.9 lenses in the front and rear cameras for enhanced low-light photography.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge features a screen that curves over the edge of the handset. This not only looks great as it removes the side bezel all together, but it’s also functional. For example laying the phone on its face will mean the edge lights up a colour corresponding to a contact when they call so the user can choose to leave the phone down or answer.
What has annoyed people is that storage on the new Sammys is limited to the model you choose as neither of the two devices come with a expansion slot – although recent a PDF shows that you could replace the battery.
On April 10th, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be available to buy from Samsung’s website and a range of mobile carriers and retailers which include O2, Vodafone, EE, Three and the Carphone Warehouse. in 32, 64 and 128GB storage options in White Pearl, Black Sapphire and Gold Platinum.
