Marantz ND8006 network music / CD player launched
Marantz has launched the complete digital music source player – the ND8006 network music/CD player, with DAC-Mode and HEOS support.
Marantz has just launched their first complete digital music source player. The ND8006 is designed as a no-compromise, high-quality allrounder.
The unit combines CD playback, network/Internet streaming, external DAC functionality and HEOS support.
Furthermore, this newcomer draws on all the Marantz team’s expertise in high-quality digital engineering.
Marantz ND8006: The complete digital music source player
The ND8006 is built to meet all the requirements of the modern digital music listener all in one device.
Based on the successful NA8005 and SA8005 models it combines a CD player with a digital sources hub. However, the new unit features a complete re-think of features and audio design.
That hub offers playback from home network, local USB storage, online sources such as streaming services and Internet radio. Furthermore, you get HEOS multiroom support and DAC functionality allowing the direct connection of computers and other devices.
It also accepts file formats all the way up to 11.2Mhz quad-DSD and 384kHz/32-bit PCM. Additionally, it features both Apple AirPlay and Bluetooth to play music from portable devices.
As well as all its digital playback skills, it can also be used with a conventional amplifier via a dedicated fix level output. Moreover, you can connect it directly to a power amplifier and speakers. For that matter, you could even just plug it in to an active speaker, thanks to built-in digital preamp functions by the variable output socket.
The ND8006 will even share the music around the home, thanks to its HEOS integration. Just add HEOS speakers to create a whole-house multiroom system, complete with simple app control.
Tech
Using the Marantz Musical Digital Filtering system and an audiophile ESS9016 Sabre DAC, with dual crystal clocks, accurate handling of all digital signals is ensured.
Additionally, the noise isolation circuit on the USB Type B ‘computer audio’ input and digital audio inputs – two optical and one coaxial – blocks interference from connected components for signal purity.
Over on the analogue circuitry, Marantz uses carefully selected components plus the famous Marantz Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Modules (HDAMs), while a shielded toroidal transformer minimises internal noise.
Both Ethernet and dual-band (2.4/5GHz) Wi-Fi connectivity are provided, and even headphone listeners aren’t forgotten: the ND8006 has a dedicated headphone amp using fully discrete components including the same HDAM-S2 technology as the main audio circuits, and selectable gain to allow it to drive a wide range of headphones.
The ND8006 is the perfect match to the recently introduced, pure analogue integrated amplifier, PM8006 that debuted the new Marantz Music Phono EQ stage.
Price and availability
The PM8006 is just shipping, while the ND8006 will be available January 2018, at €1.199. Colour options are black or silver-gold.
A new system remote controller is provided with each model. This is able to control both the ND8006 and PM8006.
