]]>Berluti x Bang & Olufsen Collaborate For Luxury Audio Visual Line
Parisian maker of fashionable leather goods, Berluti, and Danish luxury audio brand Bang & Olufsen have collaborated for a limited-edition collection of products.
Perfect for urban travellers and digital nomads, Beosound A1 2nd Gen Berluti Edition, Beoplay H95 Berluti Edition, and Berluti’s Sound Pouch are ideal for carrying on the go.
Rounding off the collection are a trio of decidedly non-portable special editions in the form of the Beosound Balance Berluti Edition, Beovision Harmony and Beolab 90.
Bang & Olufsen’s second-gen portable Bluetooth speaker is waterproof, dustproof and boasts up to 18 hours of battery play time.
The 360-degree omnidirectional speaker sports a three-microphone array and Alexa baked-in.
The minimalist design in Grey Mist features a large Berluti logo on top of the speaker, while a Berluti calf leather cord in shiny dark brown tones aids the A1’s portability. There is also an aluminium tag with the Bang & Olufsen logo laser engraved on one side and the Berluti logo on the other. The aluminium tag is completed with a mirror-polished finish, drawing inspiration from Berluti’s ready to wear accessory trimmings.
First launched in 2020, the H95 are arguably the Danish brand’s finest wireless headphones. Upgrading these comfortable noise-cancelling headphones is a headband featuring Berluti’s trademark Venezia leather with a TDM Intenso patina and the Maison’s embossed logo.
The dark brown soft lambskin ear cushions match the Berluti Venezia leather headband, creating a cohesive expression. The aluminium discs have been engraved with the Berluti logo on the left-hand side and the Bang & Olufsen logo on the right. The headphones are housed in a black aluminium case where you’ll find more laser engraved logos.
Berluti has created a dedicated pouch that can comfortably cosset either the Beosound A1 speaker or the Beoplay H95 headphones.
Made with Berluti’s Signature Canvas – a motif blending Berluti’s new logo and the undulating strokes of the iconic Scritto – and featuring a patinated Venezia leather tag, it is ideal for safe carrying.
Bang & Olufsen’s home object-inspired speaker features a hidden touch interface that lights up when approached and comes with Google Assistant and supports Apple Airplay2, Spotify Connect and Google Chromecast.
Seven carefully placed speaker drivers with beam-forming technology hands you the option of powerful and room-filling sound for everyday listening and sound directivity for precise and immersive music experiences.
Patinated by hand, Berluti’s Venezia leather is wrapped around the wooden base of Balance, creating a distinct finish and manufactured with Berluti’s artisanal know-how. The fabric has a dark knit with a touch of brown to match the leather base, which has been embossed with both logos and includes fine stitching around the base’s edge to create a touch of elegance. The top plate and grill come in natural aluminium for a high contrast and exclusive highlight to the darker materials.
Featuring 8,200 watts of musical power, Beolab 90 adapts to its surroundings and your preferred listening modes to create an unprecedented level of musical power and precision, says the Danish audio brand.
The base of the aluminium speaker is customised with Berluti’s Venezia leather – with a TDM Intenso patina to create a bold design statement and, funnily enough, is the perfect match for Beovision Harmony Berluti Edition.
Originally unveiled at Milan Design Week in 2019, the 77-inch TV folds down into a sculptural shape with the panels partially covering the screen. When you want to watch something, these wings fan out and elevate the screen above them to perfect viewing height.
Featuring an LG 4k resolution OLED screen and motorised floor stand, infused in Berluti’s DNA through exceptionally fine, perforated and patinated Venezia leather covering the speaker panels, it offers a unique interactive experience, we are reliably informed.
A Berluti representative told GadgetyNews:
Berluti and Bang & Olufsen are a perfect match, bringing together a common passion for excellence. Bang & Olufsen’s cutting-edge philosophy, technological innovation and state-of-the-art design run parallel to the Maison’s focus on craftsmanship and its continually evolving lifestyle collection.
Christoffer Poulsen, SVP of Product Management & Brand Partnering at Bang & Olufsen, added:
For nearly a century, Bang & Olufsen has been pushing the boundaries of audio technology, and the company continues to sit at the forefront of acoustic innovation. Together with Berluti, we are bringing the best of artisanship to the fore with our expertise in sound and design and Berluti’s knowledge in leather craftsmanship to create a truly remarkable collection.
The Berluti edition Beoplay H95 (£1,100), Beosound A1 (£320), Beosound Balance (£3,200) and Sound Pouch (£450) will be available in limited quantities from May 28th 2021 at Bang & Olufsen at Harrods, Berluti at Harrods, Berluti Conduit Street and Mr Porter, as well as online at www.bang-olufsen.com. The made-to-order Beovision Harmony (£32,800) and Beolab 90 (£97,000) will be available to order from May 28th and showcased in select Berluti and Bang & Olufsen stores.

]]>Introducing the Bang & Olufsen Limited Edition Bronze Collection.
B&O is getting autumnal with their latest special colourway collection.
Taking inspiration from the architectural and interior trends of using warm colours and contrasting materials, Bang & Olufsen is announcing a limited-edition collection of the company’s most popular multiroom speakers. The Bronze Collection is tastefully adding alluring dark, naturally warm hues, character and even more vivid sound to the modern home.
Bang & Olufsen architects and designers Anne Mee Dybbroe Andersen and Anna-Sophia Brune told us:
People are drawn to spaces and objects, where contrasts and details enhance each other. For the Bronze Collection speakers, we combined the earthy aluminium bronze tone, the epitome of warmth and timeless elegance, with bespoke multi-coloured wool yarn from Kvadrat and premium walnut wood. The bronze tone stays neutral from day to night, season to season and year to year – maintaining its elegance and splendour regardless of trends and changing fashions
The Bronze Collection brings together the iconic and powerful Beoplay A9 floor speaker, the Beoplay M5, Beosound 1 and Beosound 2 with 360-degree sound. Additionally, the all-new Beosound Edge speaker features in the collection.
All the speakers in the Bronze Collection are wireless multiroom speakers. So, as well as being stylishly on trend, you get amazing sound quality with no fuss.
For the Bronze Collection campaign, London-based visual artist 30,000 fps (Thirty Thousand Frames Per Second), aka. Josh Labouve, has taken inspiration in the austere geometric forms of the five products. The shapes: circles, cones, cylinders, spirals and arched lines, feature heavily.
The result is a series of animations visualising not only an abstract interpretation of the sculptural forms but also a movement of sound. Contours move in a hypnotising manner to a creative soundscape composed by Brighton-based Ithaca Studio.
The Bronze Collection will be available to purchase online, in Bang & Olufsen stores and selected retailers from 30 October 2018. Beosound Edge will join the collection from December 2018.

]]>Bang & Olufsen rolls in with the Beosound Edge speaker.
Bang & Olufsen has collaborated with globally acclaimed designer Michael Anastassiades to create Beosound Edge. The latest edition to the company’s range is a typically quirky designer audio piece by the Danish luxury audio brand.
The circular Beosound Edge allows for two placement options. On the floor as a centrepiece, or placed on the wall to create a true gravity-defying statement.
The speaker is loaded with proximity sensors so, when you get close to it, it discreetly illuminates the touch interface. Furthermore, do not expect basic volume controls here. Adjusting the sound involves you gently rolling the Beosound Edge forwards and backwards to increase and decrease the volume.
Softly to change the volume moderately, while a stronger touch will change it more dramatically. Let go, and it gently rolls back to its original position.
However, it’s not just gimmiks that sets the Edge apart. The new Beosound speaker is surprisingly powerful despite its compact footprint.
To deliver impressive bass capabilities, the Bang & Olufsen acoustic engineers have packed in a 10-inch woofer bass driver on one side, partnered with a dedicated 4-inch midrange and a 3?4-inch tweeter on both sides.
Beosound Edge comes with AirPlay 2, Chromecast2 and Bluetooth and it supports voice interaction when paired with either a Google Assistant-enabled speaker, such as Beosound 1 and Beosound 2, or an Amazon Echo device.
Beosound Edge (RRP 3,250 EUR) is available online and in Bang & Olufsen stores from mid-November 2018.

Bang & Olufsen is making their Beosound 1 and BeoSound 2 speakers smarter. The company is releasing new, updated, versions of the awesome-looking speakers that feature Google Assistant.
We enjoyed having the Beosound 1 around very much. It makes us happy that both speakers are receiving updates to make them smarter.

The Beosound 1 is designed to be portable and features a built-in rechargeable battery, while the Beosound 2 is heftier and needs to be plugged in but produces a lush sound.
In addition to Google Assistant being baked-in, the Beosound 1 also gets a new charging dock to make it even more portable.
The new Google Assistant-loaded versions will be available from September. Prices are £1,250 and £1,650 for the Beosound 1 and Beosound 2, respectively.

The post Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 1 wireless speaker review appeared first on GadgetyNews.
]]>Lately we have housed a stray BeoSound 1 wireless speaker. It is a rather stylish thing, as you would expect from Bang and Olufsen. Did we find it friendly though?
We do get a variety of wireless speakers here. Today’s offering may well be one of the most expensive (if you ignore the £18k Goldmund Metis Mk 2). B&O are renowned for their design-lead audio offerings.
Whenever I mention Bang and Olufsen, my friends split themselves in to two quite definite camps. There’s the ones that find B&O an aspirational brand who have loved the look of their kit since the days of wall-mounted vertical CD players. However, there’s the other lot. These tend to be more ‘serious’ about their two-channel Hi-Fi. This band of beings will cock a snook and mutter something about “lifestyle”, and possibly “architects”.
The strange thing is, I can see both arguments. Yes, they tend to be great to look at. They are also generally designed to be fuss free to set up and use. I don’t see anything wrong with this. Furthermore, a lot of the naysayers also happen to be iPhone owners. Now, isn’t ‘great looking’ and ‘it just works’ straight out of the Steve Jobs’ cook book? As for sound quality, we’ll cover that later.
Yup, it is certainly striking. You would also be hard placed to assume it was from any other brand, even though there is only a hint of a logo tastefully engraved near the base.
I do love its brushed finish that would suit any room you placed it in. It’s such a lean and minimalist piece of audio furniture.
It manages to look hyper-modern yet, if you placed it in a wood-paneled study (I am assuming B&O owners will probably have a library or similar too), it would still look perfectly at home.
Another cool design touch is the way the top portion of this audio Shard almost appears to float. This neat tick also lends it further wrappings of modernity.
It measures 16.2 x 32.7 cm (W x H) and weighs in at a reassuringly substantial 3.5kg.
However, just because it appears to be minimalist in design that doesn’t mean that it is short on features.
Firstly, on that pseudo-floating top is a circular touchpad. This is used to pause, skip and play your music. Then, surrounding that pad and forming part of the outer metal casing, is a heavily damped volume-control ring. Finally, inside the “futuristic vase”, as one friend dismissed it, there is support for myriad streaming services and standards.
Music is produced by way of a 1.5-inch full-range driver in the top part of the speaker firing down at a 360-degree acoustic lens, and a 4-inch bass driver in the… errr… base. This also hits a curved plate for dispersion.
Lastly, there is an integrated rechargeable battery that B&O says will see it through 16 hours of untethered playback at moderate volume (four hours at maximum).
The pair of drivers together deliver a frequency response of 35Hz to 24.3kHz, according to the bumf. These are powered by a 40 watt class D amp for the full-range and a 20 watt class D for woofer.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the 360-degree cleverness works well and fills a room. Furthermore, it manages to do this without any real sense that the sound is coming from one particular point.
You are spoiled for ways to send music to the BeoSound 1, too. Firstly, there’s Apple AirPlay, Spotify Connect and Google Cast support. Additionally, you can just squirt tunes via Bluetooth.
The speaker can be added to Bang & Olufsen’s multiroom speaker system, and you can control it via the firm’s app as well. Within that app there’s integrated control over Spotify, Deezer QPlay and TuneIn, and the ability to stream from DLNA-networked music sources.
I downloaded the Bang & Olufsen app from the Google Play Store, and simply followed the wizard.
First, switch on Bluetooth and ensure you’re hooked up to your WiFi.
Tap ‘Add Product’ and it will locate the speaker.
Now just add the speaker to your network. Done. It took me about a minute.
Inside the app you can adjust the EQ using the Wall, Free, Corner presets and/or use the Treble and Bass sliders. Here you can also set alarms.
Tapping on the Music icon at the foot of the app gives you the available roots to music. I went the way of DNLA in order to slurp up audio from my NAS.
The BeoSound 1 really is a joy to listen to. I can feel numerous ‘audiophiles’ pulling that face, but I don’t care.
To say that this is just a single unit with a couple small drivers, the output is tremendous. There is plenty of detail, but there is also expression, atmosphere, separation and an impressive soundstage. I can honestly say that I have not heard anything this good from a single wireless speaker yet. The Dali Katch is still my favourite go anywhere portable, but the BeoSound 1 is the one for home.
It also handles a variety of music very well.
Bauhaus’s haunting acoustic offering ‘All We Ever Wanted Was Everything’, practically has Pete Murphy and the gang sat with you around the table. ‘Frankenstein’ by Clutch is as dirty as you want it. The crunchy distorted guitar lays over the sludgy overdriven bass without muddying things.
Depeche Mode’s ‘Dream On’ also proved that the BeoSound can handle electronica too. Bass has good weight and authority, but also control and a rich warmth.
Is the BeoSound 1 cheap and cheerful? Well, if you are familiar with Bang and Olufsen you would not ask. True, it is not what you’d call a budget speaker. But, the build quality, style, and finish is also what you would expect from this price bracket.
Furthermore, there is the sound quality. Additionally, the fact that it can go wireless so, once it has woken you up using the alarm you set, you can then take it with you to the breakfast room – I am assuming that is a thing that the monied will have.
It is an exquisite piece of audio jewelry and I would definitely buy one for each of the guest suites in the west wing of my imaginary mansion.
You can purchase the BeoSound 1 right now. The official website states a price of £1085 but I have seen them new online for under £900.
It is available in Brass Tone, Natural (steel) and Infantry Green.

]]>Today, Bang & Olufsen has announced a partnership with HiFiBerry to launch a new open
The post Beocrate – B&O Raspberry Pi 4 channel amp speaker hack appeared first on GadgetyNews.
]]>Today, Bang & Olufsen has announced a partnership with HiFiBerry to launch a new open source, DIY-product. The Beocrate 4 Channel Amplifier will enable customers to upgrade their vintage speakers with wireless functionalities.
Bang & Olufsen has over 90 years of experience in developing speaker systems. However, this new partnership makes a commitment to ensure customers can continue to use their vintage speakers with today’s wireless technology. It is this partnership that has created the Beocrate 4 Channel Amplifier.
The Beocreate 4 Channel Amplifier is essentially a piece of hardware that you install yourself into old speakers. It then hands those vintage earpleasers wireless functionalities.
According to Chief Intrapreneur from Bang & Olufsen, Anders Buchmann, it is a part of Bang & Olufsen’s DNA to produce long lasting, quality products. With the introduction of this new bit of kit the company can ensure the longevity on its vintage-portfolio with new technology.
What sets the initiative apart is that Bang & Olufsen is enabling and encouraging customers to upcycle and hack classic speakers. Needless to say, this is quite a first.
The Beocreate 4 channel amplifier is a very flexible DSP/DAC/amplifier combination board designed for high-quality music playback in combination with passive loudspeakers.
Firstly, it is able to dish out up to 180W output power (2x30W, 2x60W). It is also capable of driving up to four 4-8 Ohm speakers (the two 60W channels can drive 2 Ohm speakers).
The Beocrate board will play nice with sample rates up to 192kHz. Oh, and there’s a 4 channel DAC (digital analogue converter) included.
Speakers can be connected via screw terminals which opens up a range of possibilities.
Additionally, for those Makers out there, the system is fully controllable from the Raspberry Pi. However, the best news is that no soldering is required. The Raspberry Pi can be plugged easily onto the Beocreate board.
Finally, it can work as a standalone (without the Raspberry Pi) digital amplifier. However, to program the DSP, a Raspberry Pi is required.
This is a very interesting move for B&O. One which I applaud.
Anders Buchmann says and continues:
Bang & Olufsen is known for our design, sound and craftsmanship, virtues that never really go out of style. And our speakers from the 70’s and 80’s represent this just as much as our current product portfolio. But with technology changing rapidly a lot of vintage speakers are stored away not being used or even thrown away. We wanted to change that, and this initiative is all about empowering our customers to bring those products back to life themselves with modern day features.”
Daniel Matuschek, founder of HiFiBerry adds:
Our company has always been dedicated to high quality DIY audio. Working in cooperation with Bang & Olufsen is not only a huge pleasure, it also gives us the possibility to implement our hardware to design classics we love. Seeing a company opening up for the idea of DIY audio and upcycling is more than exciting and we are very proud to be part of this process.”
You can order the Beocreate 4 Channel Amplifier online on hifiberrys websit for £149.

]]>Recently I have had a behind the scenes look around Marlin PR’s Borough Market HQ. Not only to see what goes on at one of the country’s leading agencies, but to have a closer look at the B&O Beosound range they have providing the audio there.
I have attended the launch of many Bang and Olufsen products. However, at these events you very rarely get the opportunity to sit with any one for any length of time.
During a chat at the BeoLab 50 launch, I mentioned this and, being a total gent, Kai invited me to come and check out the speakers they had at the office.
A few months later, owing to workload and life in general, I finally made it over the river.
I realise that Bang and Olufsen is one of those brands that appear to divide opinion but, I have to say, after spending time listening to each and every one of these speakers, I found it hard to knock any of them.
From a design point-of-view, I understand their form. From a user’s point-of-view, they do what I expect them to do. The multi-room app interface is also very easy to navigate.
Do they give an expansive soundstage with the depth, clarity and immersion that you would get from an expensive 2-channel system? No. But then again, I am not foolish enough to expect that.
With this range from B&O I want Danish design with audio that is enjoyable. Furthermore, I want the user experience to be uncluttered and intuitive.
When ever you talk to someone who uses Apple products and ask them why, the first thing out their mouth is usually “Well, it just works.” Secondly, they will no doubt mention “I like how it looks.” Do they care what processor is powering the thing? Often, not.
Stop an iPhone user and ask them how many pixels per inch their expensive screen packs in and expect a blank look as your answer. Most people just don’t care. They want something that performs well and looks good.
The Beosound range does just that. I definitely wouldn’t say no to any of them, especially the Beosound 1. Just saying.
Here are some snaps I took during my visit. Click on the image to enlarge it.
Thanks again to Kai for taking the time to show me around.
