Tag Heuer Carrera Connected smartwatch released today
It looks like Apple isn’t going to have the only over-priced wearable as the new Android-powered Tag Heuer Smartwatch will be outed today.
The Tag Heuer Carrera Connected Android Wear smartwatch will be unveiled today at 11am ET in New York – so, just a few hours away.
The new smartwatch will be available in the states after the launch and then will land in Europe later in the week.
Tag Heuer has identified the American consumers as the prime market for the Tag Heuer Smartwatch. Giving Americans a three day advance on the Carrera Connected. This is a bold thing to do for a Swiss company. There are supposed to be 1,000 Carrera Connected smartwatches available at launch.
The news of the launch of the device was announced by the company’s CEO, Jean-Claude Biver who said that the device will cost $1,500 and stated:
Our watch will have almost the same functions as an Apple Watch, but I don’t want to divulge too much,”
Tag Heuer says that they wanted the smartwatch to look like the Carrera Heuer 01. The Tag Heuer logo on the crown is different than the one found on the $5,000 TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 but, based on the leaked images, there is an resemblance to the Carrera Heuer 01 although I am sure that aficionados will be able to spot the difference.
French newspaper Le Matin says that Tag Heuer will offer a Titanium finish on the Tag Heuer Carrera Smartwatch.
The Tag Heuer Connected will be the most expensive Android Wear smartwatch, even at the lower $1,500 price tag and you can ‘watch’ the Tag Heuer Connected Event as it will be streamed live on the Tag Heuer site.
