NVIDIA Tegra 3 – Quad Core Being Unveiled at MWC 2011?
Well, seems that NVIDIA did a pretty good job at CES looking at the noise folk are making about the up coming raft of new dual-core processor equipped mobiles.
But they’re not likely to rest on their laurels and, going by the rumours flying around, the Santa Clara chip cobbler may well use Mobile World Congress 2011 to announce to the world its next-gen platform – Tegra 3.
NVIDIA Tegra general manager, Mike Rayfield, is quoted as saying “I’m going to come pretty close to my cadence of a launch every year. It will be in production around the same time as my competitors’ first dual-cores will.”
So – let’s get this right then. The Tegra 2 was launched in January 2010….. a yearly launch…. we’re in January 2011…. Mobile World Congress is in a coupla weeks…
There’s no confirmed specs obviously but the good ol’ grapevine is suggesting a quad-core Cortex A9 device, with either a GeForce 8 or 9 series GPU with CUDA technology on board too. NOM 🙂
So, net year’s CES may well have a bunch of quad-core mobiles whirring away – which aint no bad thing.
