BlackBerry London gets Surfboard Trademark
It wasn’t long ago when I wrote about the leaked BlackBerry London. The radically different RIM phone was said to be packing QNX and looked like it had been sketched by Porsche Design. Now it seems to have been officially named.
When you think of London what’s the first thing to spring to mind? Black cabs, red buses, the Underground. How about baggy shorts and warm seas? I’m guessing that was not the thought process followed by the BB cobblers over in Canada as it appears that the very sexy touchscreened BlackBerry seems to be moving on from its London codename and now demands to be called BlackBerry Surfboard – yeah, really.
The Surfboard will be RIM’s first BBX powered smartphone and the name looks to be staying as RIM has already filed a trademark for this name. But then, saying that, the PlayBook was going to be called the Surfbook so perhaps the new blower will end up being the Phoneboard or summink.
Ignoring the name for a moment – the lovely looking BlackBerry should arrive equipped with a dual core TI OMAP 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built in storage, plus a rear facing 8 megapixel camera and a front facing 2 megapixel camera.
Silly name but it still looks mighty good for a BlackBerry.
