iPhone 5 announcement date official
Apple has officially announced the date for what is widely believed to be the unveiling of the new iPhone 5!
Apple will announce the iPhone 5 on September 12th – check out the clever use of the 12 and 5 in the official event invitation.
As with previous big Apple announcements, the event will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
It kicks off at 10am which works out to be 6pm in real time next Wednesday here on our little island known as the UK.
It looks like Apple can’t even be bothered to be subtle as the invitation shows the date casting a shadow that forms a 5. This follows the rumours that Apple will still name their new smartphone the iPhone 5 and not follow the iPad with calling it the new iPhone. Well, they did buy the domain name.
The iPhone 5 will sport a stretched 4-inch screen in a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio so that you can enjoy watching films and TV without those meddling black bars.
Other leaked snaps show a smaller dock connector with the headphone socket moved to the bottom, and we might get some uprated and redesigned earbuds bundled in with the new phone.
The number 5 appears to rule out the possibility of an appearance from the also rumoured iPad mini – or could it pop up in the ‘one more thing’ statement at the end?
The announcement will also mean that preorders for the iPhone 5 will be open as well, according to more hearsay 😉
