Asus Eee Pad Slider Tablet Has Honeycomb, Keyboard and Launching in UK

The Asus Eee Pad Slider has been outed at CES 2011 and this tablet hybrid is equipped with a full slide out QWERTY keyboard, kinda like some phones pack – but bigger.

The Asus Eee Pad Slider is rocking twin cameras: 5MP shooting from the back and 1.2MP pointing at the users face.

The screen is a 10.1 inch multi touch unit and is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip.  You also get a USB port and card reader.

It’s more portable than the Toshiba tablet I wrote about yesterday as the Asus Ee Pad Slider weighs in at a nice 886g and is a svelt 16.7mm.

Like the Tosh Tab it sounds like Asus is testing their Android Eee Pads with Android 3.0, otherwise known as Honeycomb! It’s not clear whether the Slider will launch with 3.0 or a skinned 2.4 with a 3.0 update following later.

Good news though for us in the UK:

Asus technical marketing manager Gary Key has been quoted as saying that we’ll “….see the four primary models worldwide…the launch will probably be staggered but to be honest we tend to launch in the UK first.”

Prices seem to be in the £320-£500 region and look for it from April 2011.
