Well, as of today Skype has opened up the beta of its SkypeKit – the software development kit for the free video and voice calling software.

Skype are hoping that this SDK will get makers of anything that hooks up to the interwebs add ing in the ability to chat over VoIP.

Because the SDK works without a Skype desktop application – if you have a Wi-Fi bookshelf, you could use it to Skype your buddies. Excellent!
