OnePlus 5T release, specs, price hints
For those that pounced on the OnePlus 5 the news of a OnePlus 5T appearing must be annoying (sorry Chris). However, for those of us who are looking forward to the new iteration, it hasn’t been plain sailing either.
The people at OnePlus have been toying with us for what seems ages now. Every week the Chinese phone cobblers slip us another cryptic tidbit.
And so the teasing continues
The weekly update as to what the Chinese company has been doing landed on Friday.
This made it clear that the “beautiful portraits” recently tweeted by CEO Pete Lau and co-founder Carl Pei were indeed captured with the 5T’s dual camera system.

Now, there was typically no mention as to whether the 16 + 20MP main snappers of the OP5 have been improved on the hardware side. So, are we expecting purely software tweaks.
We did get to see a 5T hiding beneath its OnePlus 5 sibling in a “5Tacked” photo shared on Twitter though.

However, it doesn’t sound like the OnePlus 5T will be getting wireless charging.
Lau said that this technology isn’t mature enough to bring practical benefit. Moreover, as the 5T will be packing Dash Charge, does it really need it? Personally, the only true benefit to wireless charging is less stress on the USB port.
Also, it has been confirmed that the 5T will still be rocking a headphone port. Nice.

We got to see the purported front of the 5T by serial tweeter Evan Blass.
OnePlus 5T official launch
As for the release events, it certainly looks like OnePlus is headed for New York City to “party”.

The thing is, this may only be one of many. I would not be surprised to hear that OnePlus is staging simultaneous 5T launch events in several big cities around the world.
Release date
So, what date should we keep clear in our diaries?

Thanks to a typically cryptic tweet interpreted by fans, November 15th seems highly likely.
Price
Pete Lau, aka Liu Zuohu, may have just confirmed the OnePlus 5T will cost no more than 4,000 yuan over on Weibo.
This equates to roughly £460.
As the OP5 started at CNY 2,999, going up to 3,500 yuan with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, this seems about right.
Update 5pm GMT
I’ve just gotten word of all the official date, time, location and live stream details.
