Project Natal will Sense Your Room Size – UK and Japan Back in the Game
In response to the apparent craziness of Microsoft’s Project Natal needing a huge amount of play-space the Big M has reassured everyone by saying that the motion sensing camera will read the depth and configuration of your room and adjust its play space on the fly. Clever Natal! 🙂
Now Xbox 360 owners in the UK and Japan can breathe a sigh of relief and cancel their application to build an extension.
Microsoft clarified the matter and told gaming blog Kotaku: “The comments recently about the play space for Project Natal were misinterpreted. We know that living rooms come in all shapes and sizes, and have conducted numerous play tests to ensure everyone will be able to jump off the couch and into the fun when Project Natal launches globally this holiday.”
Thing is, I’m guessing that there’s going to be quite a few games where the sensor will need clear sight of your entire body to be in view for dancing, fighting and the likes. This will obviously limit how close you can be to your TV so you may need a decent amount of room behind you after all.
Are you saving up for the Natal? It should be £50 or less according to the whispers 😉
