Apple iOS 6 users less satisified vs iOS 5

ios6 v ios5If you have an iPhone or iPad chances are that you’ve updated to iOS 6 by now. What do you think about it? Well, it appears that iOS 6 hasn’t wowed users and the satisfaction polls prove it.

It seems that Apple isn’t getting everything its own iWay as a new user satisfaction poll conducted by mobile customer research firm On Device actually shows a drop!.

The survey of just under 16,000 iPhone owners in the U.S. found that, when compared to iOS 5, those with the new iOS 6 operating system were less satisfied with their devices. The drop is small, but still noteworthy because On Device says this is the first time it’s seeing a drop in satisfaction.

“We have always seen an increase in device satisfaction as consumer upgrade their mobile operating system from one version to another,” On Device CEO Alistair Hill explained in an emailed statement, adding that that’s also traditionally been the case among Android OS versions. The company notes that especially compared to the jump between iOS 4 and iOS 5, which shows strong improvements, the drop from iOS 5 to iOS 6 seems especially unusual.

One of the biggest niggles seems to be Apple’s replacement of Google Maps which I haven’t found any particular issue with yet but, to be honest, have also not used it a great deal since upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 6.

Before Android and WinPhone users start performing the happy dance, It’s perhaps worth noting that despite the slight decrease in satisfaction vs. iOS 5 satisfaction is still very high overall. Also, Apple still seems to have a significant lead on Android devices, according to a recent study by J.D. Power.

What are findings of iOS 6? Have you got your paws on an iPhone 5? I need to know!
