LG G Watch R2 to pack 4G
Where I agree with Roy’s review of the LG G Watch R, it could be better. But so could all smartwatches really. LG apparently have plans of kitting their next one out with 4G smarts.
Wearables such as the Samsung Gear S are already packing 3G, but the latest rumours suggest that we could be seeing a 4G smartwatch from LG sometime in the first half of next year.
It sounds as though the 4G tech will be shoved in to the successor of the G Watch R, coming with the same circular watch face that made the original so popular. The follow-up to the G Watch R, (R2?), will likely be unveiled at next year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC).
Even thought the LG G Watch R’s battery life is fairly decent, 4G isn’t exactly going to help matters. The only way in which 4G will add benefit to the user is if the device can still last through a full day without needing juice.
My other point is what will 4G bring to the R2? Does this mean that streaming HD, or even 4K, video to the circular screen will be on the cards?
Stay tuned and I’ll let you know as soon as I do.
