PlayStation VR bundle priced
The complete PlayStation VR launch bundle, which is to include motion controllers and the PlayStation camera will cost $499, which is $100 cheaper than the Oculus Rift. There’s also the core bundle that’s $399.
Yes folks, on Tuesday, March 29th at 10 AM Eastern Sony says you can put your name on the list for the PS VR (previously known as Morpheus) core bundle at “participating retailers” with the launch bundle ready now.
This means that those of you who want the full PlayStation VR experience will need to spend $100 more than what Sony originally advertised, as the $399.99 model will not include the PlayStation Camera or the two motion controllers.

The new $499 PlayStation VR launch bundle will include the following:
- PS VR headset + Processing Unit
- PS VR cables
- Stereo Headphones
- PlayStation VR Demo Disc
- PlayStation Camera
- 2x PlayStation Move motion controllers
- PlayStation VR World’s (disc)
If you already have Move controllers and a PS Camera, then the Playstation Core bundle is the one you want as it contains the headset, cabling, a few other bits and bobs and nothing redundant.
Right now this is the cheapest VR option that is available for Preorder, but it is also a lower spec headset than both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.
Even when looking at something basic like the screen resolution PS VR only has a resolution of 960×1080 compared to 1200×1080 on the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. Playstation VR also uses a single screen that is split between both eyes, whereas the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive use two separate displays.
PlayStation VR offers VR at the cheapest pricepoint, gaining a huge amount of popularity and already selling out in a lot of online storefronts. Hopefully the PS4 will prove to be a capable enough unit to run great looking VR games, as it would be sad to see Playstation VR to be the next VirtualBoy.
