Musaic adds IFTTT controls to wireless speakers
Remember the excellent wireless HiFi start-up Musaic? Well they have just added some cool functionality through a new IFTTT channel.
IFTTT (IF This, Then That) is a very neat, not to mention free, way of automating many of the things you have to do on the internet, but it is also open to controlling aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Following on from their recent AllJoyn integration, Musaic continues to keep their sound system on the cutting edge by launching a channel on IFTTT.
Musaic is the first wireless HiFi system to enable bi-directional control via the IFTTT platform, meaning Musaic can both control and be controlled by hundreds of other products.
You can now connect your Musaic speakers to products such as Philips Hue, Nest, Belkin WeMo, LIFX and Flic plus apps such as Spotify, Musixmatch and Evernote.
This means you can save songs you like to a Spotify playlist, turn off the lights when the Musaic sleep timer is activated, sound an alarm when their home security system is triggered and much more.
The channel will even allow you to set up recipes where Musaic speakers talk to you, in almost any language, to deliver messages, warnings and reminders.
CEO Matthew Bramble said:
The launch of our IFTTT channel is a major milestone for us as it adds a huge variety of smart home capabilities to Musaic. Now our customers can create simple smart home recipes for entertainment, information, security and more. Some of our favourite recipes include setting the lights to disco when having a party, reading out the weather report in the morning, turning on the radio on arriving home or scaring intruders away with spoken warnings or sirens. With audio and speech such a compelling addition to any smart home ecosystem, the possibilities with Musaic are endless. With a further roadmap of smart home features to come, including voice control and natural language understanding, our IFTTT channel will continue to grow and become even more powerful in the future.”
The Amazon Alexa Fund backed start-up has a roadmap of smart home features in development including voice control and natural language understanding. Musaic’s multi-room wireless music system is the first to offer both high-resolution audio playback and home automation features.
Musaic is available in 18 countries. To find out more about Musaic and IFTTT visit: www.musaic.com/ifttt.
