HP Touch Screen PC – IQ504 and IQ506 Release and Prices
HP have announced the $1,299 TouchSmart IQ504 (PC) and $1,499 TouchSmart IQ506 (PC with TV tuner) via a press release.
Personally I think that’s a tad low-key for the thinner, touchier, 22-inch all-in-one PC. But hey; I’m not in marketing so what the heck do I know!?
Anyhooo - Within its sleek 2.6″ thick body you’ll find a 500GB hard-disk, 256MB of NVIDIA GeForce 9300 M HS HD graphics, 802.11n WiFi, and 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo T5850 processor all doing their thing.
The screen of the Touchsmart isn’t actually touch sensitive; it’s really a beam of light in front of the screen that recognises where your finger is when you break the plane of the light beam.
The interface, which is all developed within Vista (hmmmmk), can be customised allowing you to pick from a variety of content to be displayed on the home screen.
There’s also a finger painting app, photo browsing and editing app, music player, movie player, RSS aggregator and calendar.
It will be launching in 17 countries next month including the UK (rah!), Japan, and the US.
