LG’s Optimus Google FroYo Handsets are the Chic Ones

LG has just announced their two new Android 2.2 powered phones; namely the LG Optimus One and the LG Optimus Chic.

Dare I ask if these are ‘Prime’ handsets to own?

LG’s new FroYo handsets will be optimised for Google Mobile Services when they begin their rollout across 90 countries and 120 networks starting with Europe over the next month or so.

These mobiles are pretty much aimed at those stepping out in to the smartphone jungle for the first time.  The LG Optimus One and LG Optimus Chic will both run the latest Google’s mobile operating system, Android 2.2 and feature LG’s custom interface.

Speaking on the new devices LG CEO Skott Ahn said: “LG is offering the gateway into the smartphone world with the LG Optimus One and the LG Optimus Chic that offer the distinctive benefits of smartphones, in intuitive, approachable packages,”

The One will also host the LG App Advisor which offers 10 “specifically selected” apps every fortnight from the Android Market as a way to get owners used to the joy of adding fart and lightsabre apps, etc to their world!

Both of these new LG’s feature a 600MHz processor and a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen with a 320 x 480p resolution. With that processor I’m not entirely sure how they’ll handle YouTube and other Flash sites – but FroYo does bring mobile WiFi hotspot support and Google voice action to these relatively inexpensive (I guess/hope) smarties.

The One rocks a 3-megapixel camera but the Chic enjoys sporting a 5-meg snapper to go along with its sleek design and touch sensitive buttons.
