HTC Beats Edition Mobile Phones on the Way!
HTC has followed HP and joined forces with Dr Dre in slapping the Beats branding over a new line of handsets containing the audio tech.
The Taiwanese phone giant has also splashed some paper – it has been reported that HTC have invested $300 million in Beats for a majority stake in the digital sound company.
The new best buddies are already working on some handsets and have announced that “HTC devices integrated with Beats sound innovations” will be available “this fall” – or Autumn if you’re in the UK.
“Beats has found a unique way to harness popular culture in a manner that is unlike any other brand today,” boasted Peter Chou, CEO of HTC.
In other words – KERrrrrrrCHING! 😀
“It’s an exciting brand that has been built around providing something very special, and we believe our strategic partnership will provide customers with unbeatable sound on HTC phones. We obsess over every detail of a consumer’s mobile experience, and audio is a critical part of that experience.”
HP uses the Beats branding on their more media and youthfully-targeted laptops such as the rather swish Beats Envy and the HP Pavilion dv7 which shall be reviewed here soon.
It wouldn’t surprise me if HTC was to use a similar business model – expect mobile phones built for media and social networking aimed at the fashion-conscious yoofs innit.
I’d be interested to see a HTC Beats tablet – complete with free virtual decks as standard 😉
