20 Minutes of Workshop Porn as Man Builds 16TB NAS RAID
Now I don’t support showering your hard-drives with sparks or claim to know how effective all these drives in this combo will be but there is no denying that this fella knows his way around a tool box.
The Black Dwarf, which looks like one of those cases I used to keep my 3.5″ floppy disks in, is loaded with eight 2TB hard drives.
Yup – 16 terabytes of RAID 5 in one box. Apparently that adds up to 266 megabytes per second reading. 88 megabyte per second writing.
This bloke has made a lovely NAS which will easily handle most clever video editing needs and as well as all those glorious TB’s of storage he was kind enough to include a pair of USB ports – I bet that they’re not even USB 3.0 😉
