Tap the Samsung Galaxy S5 to use “Side Touch” 16MP camera

Mobile World Congress 2014 is just around the corner and more news regarding the Samsung Galaxy S5 has hit the interweb.

The latest leaky news about Samsung’s soon-to-be-announced flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, states that it will feature a 16MP snapper capable of shooting 4K video at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps.

The S5 reportedly won’t feature a dedicated camera shutter button as that’s too old skool. Instead, it’ll use a new feature dubbed “Side Touch” to take photos.

According to SamMobile‘s sources, the Galaxy S5 will feature a sensor built into the bottom right of the phone that detects taps on the side of the device – so no more running your digits over the phone searching physical shutter button.

Apparently this funky function won’t work in portrait mode, easy mode or while shooting video.

New camera modes that have been listed include an Aqua shooting mode, “appropriate for taking pictures underwater,” which (hopefully) bolsters the rumours that the Galaxy S5 will be waterproof and dustproof.

The Golf shooting mode, which “takes pictures of a golf swing”, must come from some interesting Samsung survey – I mean, there must be a fair proportion of S4 owners that play golf to warrant the inclusion of a golf mode, surely?
