Thingsee One brings faster Internet of Things development

The Internet of Things, or IoT, is not showing any signs of slowing but developing your own device is still an area for clever gadgety types. That is until now and thanks to new device created by Thingsee. The Thingsee One is designed to provide developers with a cost-effective and simple way for developing and deploying their IoT apps.

Thingsee One was first introduced through a Kickstarter campaign at the end of last year and attracted more than US$100,000 from more than 500 backers so it seems that the marketplace was ripe for such a gadget.

The Thingsee One features an accelerometer; gyroscope; magnetometer; humidity, temperature, pressure and light sensors and so should cover a whole raft of uses straight out of the box.

Thingsee really wants you to put the One to the test and with this in mind have ensured that it is protected by ample weatherproofing and impact resistance not to mention an incredibly long battery life (up to 12 months!) and extensive cellular connectivity (you have to supply your own SIM obviously).

It monitors the temperature, if it’s dark or light, or if it’s raining. It knows when it is moved, with what speed and the exact location. It tells you if someone kicks it or touches it softly, if it’s tilted or rolling around. And if that’s not enough for you, you can easily configure Thingsee One to monitor other things as well.”

Users without programming experience can create IoT solutions via Thingsee’s mobile application, but those with the chops can take advantage of the Thingsee Backend SDK to build Web services and mobile apps.

In addition, there is a Thingsee Device SDK for embedded developers who want full hardware control.

The company also announced the beta version of its visual programming tool. Thingsee Creator allows developers to create prototypes in minutes, according to the company.

I am certainly excited by this development and hope to put the Thingsee One to the test as someone who has the smallest understanding of programming to get by in today’s world. I will let you know if I manage to get hands-on and what I was able to achieve (if anything) so stay tuned.
