AfterShokz Bluez wireless bone conduction headphones now available

AfterShockz has just unveiled a new line of headphones which uses bone-conduction tech to get audio in your hear. The AfterShokz ‘open ear’ Bluez headphones will be showcased at CES 2013 next week.

Unlike conventional headphones the Bluez ‘open ear’ headphones use patent pending bone conduction technology to deliver sound through the listener’s cheekbones to the inner ear. Enabling users to make calls and listen to audio whilst still being able to hear the outside world.

I for one am practically evangellical when it comes to the matter of hearing your surroundings as well as the music being pumped into your ears. When anyone asks me to recommend noise-cancelling cans I always ask when they will be using them – if they give me the slightest hint that they will wear them when out walking then I will advise against having the noise-cancelling on at that point.

Anyooo – that’s my soapbox moment out of the way.

The AfterShokz Bluez headphones are also wireless and will connect to your sound source using Bluetooth and enable he user to take and make handsfree calls via the button on the right-hand side. Pausing and forwarding of tracks is taken control form that button on the other side.
