Re:route iPhone app Rewards Walkers and Cyclists with Retail Offers

If you’ve been still getting to work on foot or bike even through this extremely wet ‘drought’ we’ve been having and reckon you deserve a reward then your voice has been heard.

If you own an iPhone and live or commute through London under your own steam and then you need to download the free re:route app.

Recyclebank and Transport for London have got together to encourage Londoners to brave the elements and walk or cycle to work and then receive rewards.

The new iPhone app get you to collect points for every journey you make. The points can then be redeemed against a number of offers from retailers such as Marks & Spencer, Cineworld, Haven Holidays, and such like.

Now, if you’re more in to chairobics but like the sound of getting some discounted goodies then think again – the application includes a timer and GPS tracking to ensure genuine journeys are made by bike or on foot.

Playing around with the route planner I did notice that it does give you public transport routes (below) – I suppose you may allow yourself a restful return journey, but you won’t earn any points that way 😉

I reckon this is a great idea as we all know how competitive some fitness freaks get and the same goes for some Foursquare users too!
