LG V30 launched audiophiles note: Quad DAC, MQA – IFA 2017
The LG V30 has just been unveiled at IFA 2017. Not only does it look like a great device, it is also the first global MQA-enabled handset.
The V30 is certainly a looker. Its rounded edges and slightly curved panes of Gorilla Glass 5 wrapped around a glossy metal frame has all the hallmarks of a flagship mobile.
The V30 is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance. But, just look at that 2,880 by 1,440 6-inch OLED screen. It almost fills the entire front of the new LG.
You get a headphone jack on the top-right corner, and the device takes microSD cards as large as 2TB to supplement the included 64GB or 128GB of storage.
You’ll find a USB-C port on the bottom for charging the 3,300mAh cell. Around the rear is a combination fingerprint sensor/home button, just beneath its updated dual camera.
Regarding the camera, the V30 pairs a 16-megapixel main camera (complete with f/1.6 aperture lens). There is also a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera for when you want to capture more of what’s out there.
Under the hood sits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip paired with 4GB of RAM.
Audiophiles rejoice
Firstly, the LG V30 features a HiFi Quad DAC. This is brilliant to start with, however, there’s more.
The LG V30 is a premium flagship smartphone designed to provide users with the highest multi-media capabilities and purest audio experience.
MQA’s award-winning technology captures and reproduces the sound of the original studio master in a file that’s small enough to stream.
The LG V30 handset features integrated MQA playback technology. This means that you will get master quality sound recordings played directly through the phone to your headphones.
Price and availability
Pricing has not yet been confirmed, however, it is rumoured to come in at around $699. We reckon £699 in the UK is likely.
The V30 is expected to be on shelves over the coming month.
