iPhone 7 will look like iPhone 6S but the next one…

iphone 7sThe next Apple smartphone, iPhone 7, won’t look much different to the current iPhone 6S. New real news there then. But the one after that, that could well be special.

We are all used to the regular iPhone cycle with the ‘S’ editions being slight iterations of the numbered models. But, according to The Wall Street Journal, the design of Apple’s upcoming and much awaited iPhone 7 will be quite similar to its recent predecessor’s, the iPhone 6 and 6S.

iPhone 7 is expected to land in the Autumn and arrive with “subtle changes”. The most significant update will be the loss of the standard 3.5mm headphone jack – just like the new Moto Z family. This means thinner iPhones may be on the way but also other special powers; I’m talking waterproofing and dustproofing.

Screen sizes will be the same as now, coming in at 4.7- and 5.5-inches. The new handset will come loaded with the Apple dual-camera system.

There is also talk that there will be a different camera system in the iPhone 7 Plus that uses two cameras instead of one with 2-3x optical zoom and improved performance in low-light conditions.

iPhone-7-Plus-CADThe iPhone 7 will likely continue to use a standard single-lens camera. This makes sense and would make the dual lens camera a Plus exclusive.

The real exciting thing is that once the iPhone 7 is out of the bag the timer starts for an all new iPhone.

What will the iPhone 7S bring?

The following iPhone, due next year, will bring substantial design changes. It could be called the iPhone 7S but I reckon they might opt for iPhone 8 or perhaps, even 10!

Word on the street is that we could see a curved edge-to-edge OLED screen and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor built into the display itself. The latter would eliminate the need for a home button.

Apple design chief, Jonathan Ive, has visualised “for years” the iPhone to “appear like a single sheet of glass,” according to WSJ’s sources.

iphone 7sThis would come at a very special time too as 2017 marks the iPhone’s 10th anniversary. Yes, already! So, it makes perfect sense for Apple to unveil something big in order to celebrate a decade of iPhone.
